PacketView Pro from Computer Solutions is a low-cost PC-basedreal-time monitor and protocol analyser that allows developers,field engineers and network managers to capture and decodenetwork traffic for most popular TCP/IP links.

The system intercepts and captures all network packets, and then filters,saves, decodes and displays them.

The line mode display shows the packets in a concise time-ordered form, while the detail modedisplays the contents of the packets, with each field displayedand individually interpreted.

These displays enable the contents to be shown in a helpful way, without need for the user to count and decode bytes or to check for valid packets.

PacketView Pro incorporates a TCP/IP aware serial debugger known as SerialView that is aware of the PPP protocol and is ideal for examining the traffic between modems PacketView Pro is ideally suited to use bynetwork engineers creating and testing new protocols and applications, including embedded systems and client/serverapplications.

For applications requiring proprietary or custom protocol decoders, it allows users to independently develop theirown protocol decoders (using a Microsoft C compiler) which arethen automatically loaded when PacketView Pro starts.

It works with any packet driver or ODI driver that supports promiscuous mode and it fully decodes encapsulated protocols like IPtunnelling and L2TP.

The system supports Ethernet, asynchronousPPP and synchronous (ISDN) PPP, Token Ring, Arcnet and FDDI, and runs on a standard PC with most network interface cards.
